Return of the vests: The next big fashion trend ahead of fall-winter

Celebrities today are all about reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Harper's Bazaar India

We can already predict the biggest trend this fall, and with the sudden resurgence of this 90s fad, vests are going to be all the rage. Vintage is in and fast fashion out. Everyone and their mother is thrifting their outfits or re-wearing something from their grandmother’s closet.

To the red carpet.

Business in the front, party in the back! Zendaya took to CinemaCon, in a backless vest by Louis Vuitton. The actress looked sophistically stylish in this ensemble, from the grey vest to the barrel pants and white pumps. This look took the simple vest and turned it into a look perfect for a night out with the girls.

Casually Cool

If Kendall Jenner has taught us anything, it’s the art of second-hand. This supermodel has been seen countless times wearing her father’s old Olympic sweatshirts, her mom’s old jeans and, in this case, a vintage button-up vest. Gone are the days of the over-the-top wardrobe because Kendall is all about business casual.

The Swest

If you’ve wanted to take this style into the colder months, then don’t worry; we have got you. Bella Hadid gave light academia with a street-style edge in this sweater vest, paired with an oversized blazer and dark-washed jeans. Perfect for the transition into fall and a style that has been around for decades, it’s easy to pick up the most incredible pieces at your local thrift store.

Gigi’s bringing back Grunge

The Hadid sisters are all about the new unconventional styling, and we are here for it. The pairing of the ripped skater jeans with the embroidered vintage vest is the look of this autumn.

Singers that love to thrift

Sza has been a singer that has been vocal about her love for thrifting ever since 2016. The “Kill Bill” singer has been spotted sporting vintage graphic tees, and she has said that she started this thrifting journey because it was a more affordable option for her then.
Lorde and Macklemore have spoken about feeling “weird” about spending money on themselves and having much rather buy unique pieces for less at thrift stores.

Vintage and SJP

Believe it or not, our resident style icon Sarah Jessica Parker, known for playing Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City, was a character known for rocking vintage looks, including vests. With the resurgence of 2000s trends, Carrie is on everyone’s inspiration boards, including this cinched white vest look. Besides the character, Parker has also been open about loving second-hand clothing for her son after learning about the unethical fast fashion industry.
