As the clock ticks towards 2024, the fashion world buzzes with anticipation for the new trends set to take centre stage as we embrace spring/summer. What we are likely to see is a renaissance of timeless trends, reimagined for a contemporary audience, as we embrace a fashion journey that honours the past while boldly striding into the future.
Here are some of our favourite trends that we can't wait to see back on the high streets.
Grunge fashion
This menswear spring/summer 2024 collection by FACETASM, named "Coming of Age", is an ode to growing up and works to to bring back the once famous grunge fashion, which gained popularity in the mid 90s and was popularised by rock-bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden, and more. With the trend traditionally relying on thrifted durable pieces, this one with it's focus on sustainability can be the most important conversation to have in this day and age.
Long opera gloves and big hats
Long gloves and big hats used to be quite the necessity for high-society ladies back in the 1800s. And the trend is all set to make a comeback and become a staple for celebrities and common-folk alike, as it adds quiet the oomph to any regular look.
Sweater dresses
Sweater dresses came to the fore in the 90s, when people recognised sweaters as more than a garment that helps keep one warm; and it became a fashionable piece in one's wardrobe. This look was rocked by runway models and people took a liking for the same, because of how easy it was to slip into one while not feeling cold.
Coloured lashes
While we have seen the coloured brows becoming a thing, the coloured lashes, debuted this year on the Prada Fashion-Week, are most likely to be back in season for the first time after the 1950s. This daring trend makes one's look stand out, and is likely to become a red-carpet staple in the coming year, influencing everyone to try this look out and make it a common sight much like popping eyeshadows.
Psychedelic prints
The runway has become a vibrant time capsule, heralding the bold resurgence of 60s fashion with its riot of psychedelic prints. This revival celebrates an era of fearless style, where patterns and colours converge to bring back the pop.
