Louis Vuitton’s latest high jewellery collection tells the rich tales of the earth’s genesis, the geological wonders, and the interconnectedness of life. Titled ‘Deep Time’, the collection’s second chapter aims to take us on a journey to the birth of the planet with 50 one-of-a-kind pieces across 10 themes.
Brought to life by Louis Vuitton’s artistic director for watches and jewellery, Francesca Amfitheatrof, the mesmerising pieces trace the Maison’s journey through time. Francesca envisions the chapter as a continuation of a poetic collection that symbolises a vast and incredible storyline.
The new collection boasts exquisite craftsmanship, and tells a powerful story of resilience. Spanning the birth of the planet to the beginning of life, the collection is not only aesthetic but has a surreal charm encrusted in these precious ornaments. The delicately balanced beauties are studded with the finest gemstones and contrasting metals.
Propelling us to a time when our planet was populated by supercontinents Gondwana and Laurasia, one can expect to find exquisite yellow diamonds—a Francesca signature—pastel pink and purple spinels; beautiful and feminine. In a particularly spectacular necklace set, there are 400 custom-cut emeralds and diamonds set as leaves. The collection celebrates unique colours and stories like the Umba sapphire, whose distinct pink and orange tones are paired with pink gold in modern, graphic compositions.
The standout aspect of the collection is Louis Vuitton has not just curated jewellery but an experience in every ornament. From seismic, apocalyptic evolutions of the planet and first land-bound ecosystems to the minute details of the bones, seeds, and flowers to the new dawn of life, everything is meticulously highlighted in the label’s unparalleled jewellery making savoir faire. The collection reminds us of the boundless possibilities of art, nature, and human imagination.
Louis Vuitton will add new themes and additional pieces to the chapter in the coming days to complete the collection.
