Jennifer Lopez co-designed an Intimissimi capsule collection that reflects her personal evolution

“Because what’s more intimate than lingerie?” the star asks Bazaar in an exclusive interview

Jennifer Lopez’s tenure as Intimissimi’s global brand ambassador just got hotter, if the new lingerie capsule collection that she co-designed is any indication.

The “This Is Me Now” collection (not to be confused with Lopez’s forthcoming ninth studio album, This Is Me … Now) unsurprisingly takes inspiration from her recent creative and musical endeavours. Lopez fans are probably well acquainted with the personal transformation she has undergone over the past few years, and the capsule’s ethos is like-minded, evolving with her own ambitions as an artist once again coming into her own.

“‘This Is Me Now’ is a statement of self-acceptance. It’s about truly embracing who you are completely in every way in the most emotionally intimate ways,” the multi-hyphenate tells Bazaar in an exclusive interview. “(It’s) the perfect occasion to collaborate with Intimissimi, because what’s more intimate than lingerie?”

To embody that idea, she tapped a recurring motif to appear as a tiny charm throughout the collection: the hummingbird. The avian creatures have a special and spiritual meaning to Lopez, who wrote a song titled “Hummingbird” for her upcoming record. Her connection to hummingbirds is further rooted in their resilience and their symbolism for love. “Whenever I see one, I always feel like it’s a message from God that everything’s gonna be okay,” Lopez explains. “Including it so closely and intimately on lingerie means I get to carry that good feeling with me.”

The capsule—which includes a wide array of silky and lacy bras, undies, teddies, slip dresses, pajama sets, and bathrobes—comes in three luscious colourways. Each option reflects a different facet of Lopez’s personal style: Black captures her timeless elegance, champagne maintains her ease of poise, and jade green amplifies her wild side.

In two Bazaar exclusive campaign images, shot by Norman Jean Roy with creative direction by Riccardo Ruini and Francesco Carrozzini, Lopez poses in a lacy champagne bra, undies, and garter set, as well as a matching robe with lace panels. In another, she wears a black halterneck bralette with a large chest cutout and coordinating lace-trim bloomers.

How do pieces from the capsule collection factor into a “dream night” for Lopez? As she details, “My dream night would be fresh from a relaxing bath, drenched in oils and emollients, smelling amazing. I am very stimulated by smells, so I might light some candles or incense, then I would luxuriate in taking my time with my nighttime skincare routine.” After taking her time to lather herself in serums and moisturisers (from her very own JLo Beauty line, of course), she sees herself capping off the night with a romantic moment with husband Ben Affleck: “(I’d) wind up lounging in luxurious silks from the collection while reading poetry with my husband. I love when he reads to me—he has the most soothing voice.”

Lopez also teased her highly anticipated musical project to Bazaar, calling the forthcoming record “a defining era for sure”.

“This is a deeper look into who I am and the personal journey that I’ve been on to arrive to where and who I am today, which is a happier and more confident, more accepting place,” she says. “It’s about accepting yourself for all of the beautiful scars that you carry with you, and loving every part of them all the same.”
