Meet Modernist—Four Seasons Mumbai’s newest members-only offering

It serves up spectacular views and gastronomic delights, all in a stunning setting.

Harper's Bazaar India

Mumbai is known for being home to several luxury hospitality brands, and Four Seasons Hotel is one of them. The global luxury major, which landed at the city’s shores nearly two decades ago, facing the Arabian Sea at Worli, is today a favourite with the city’s patrons. They have been behind culinary gems like the popular pan-Asian restaurant San:Qi, the celebrated rooftop bar AER (which is soon set to re-open in an all-new avatar), and their delightful membership offering—‘The Club’—back with a brand-new look as Modernist.

As soon as one steps into the members-only space located on the 33rd floor of the hotel, they’re met with a bird’s eye view of the shimmering sea and the city’s landmarks like the Haji Ali Dargah through its floor-to-ceiling windows. Taking a cue from its name, the venue, at its core, is a celebration of all things modern. The interiors, custom-made by Atelier Pond, reflect a futuristic vision—it is done up with minimal but statement furniture and fittings sourced from around the world. The spaces showcase incredible fluidity from sunrise to sunset, and beyond. The highly personalised Four Seasons service reinforces the effortless ease of assimilating these physical and social spaces into your lifestyle with regular events and activities that appeal to all.

The opulent central lounge that forms the heart of the space is warm and welcoming—here you can dig into contemporary cuisine curated by chef Abhay Singh, who previously served at the Four Seasons Maldives Private Island at Voavah. He brings the same attention to detail at Modernist through dishes that are inspired by global cuisine but are rooted in Indian ingredients and traditions. The drinks to go along with your meal are just as exclusive—from a select range of nearly 40 organic and biodynamic wines available by the glass, to sustainably sourced local coffee from Araku valley in the Eastern Ghats. There’s an extensive cocktail menu too, which has been conceptualised by the team behind AER.

The venue has six one-of-a-kind meeting rooms that guests can choose from. ‘Luminaries’ offers surreal views of the sea, ‘Founders’ faces the city’s skyline, while ‘Inventors’ and ‘Originators’ can be clubbed together with a collapsible wall if you’re planning a larger gathering. On the other hand, ‘Dreamers’ is the perfect setting for a more intimate meeting and ‘Voyagers’, with its lounge-like interiors is ideal for a more informal meeting over drinks.

Sunil Narang, general manager at Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai, sums up, “Four Seasons is known for its exceptional luxury hospitality. With Modernist, we elevate this experience further for our discerning members, with a selection of refined venues with beautiful views and delectable gastronomy, accompanied by the hotel’s legendary service, all in a very exclusive setting. Modernist continues to be the club of choice for Mumbai’s elite, encouraging memorable connections with like-minded people.”
