When you think “Elie Saab”, you think dreamlike gowns, shimmering beadwork, and moments that feel like pure magic on red carpets across the world. On November 14, 2024, the designer celebrated 45 years of creating that magic with a show-stopping gala in Riyadh. The celebrations were part of Riyadh Season—a series of events centred around culture and entertainment—that’s fast turning Saudi into the region’s cultural and luxury hotspot.

A collection inspired by the timelessness of a beloved classic

For this milestone, Saab unveiled an exclusive collection inspired by One Thousand and One Nights. The show, 1001 Seasons of Elie Saab, showcased designs teeming with the designer’s signature opulence, paying homage to the region’s rich cultural heritage while appealing to a global audience. Streamed live on MBC and other platforms, the show captivated viewers worldwide, underscoring Saab’s global influence. Reflecting on the event, Saab shared, “This event is a tribute to my lifelong journey in fashion, and I hope it inspires young designers to dream big.”

A Tribute to the Power of Storytelling

Elie Saab’s career has always been about storytelling, whether through his intricate embroidery or his ability to make women feel their most glamorous. The Riyadh event was no exception—it celebrated not only his journey but also the tales of countless designers, artisans, and creators shaping the future of fashion.

Saudi, with its growing investment in culture and luxury, provided the perfect stage for this celebration. As the world watched, it became evident that this event wasn’t just a milestone for Saab, it was a testament to the region’s promising future in global fashion.

A star-studded affair

The night was nothing short of spectacular. Halle Berry, who wore one of Saab’s most iconic creations to her historic Oscar win in 2002, walked the runway on the occasion and brought into the spotlight the very same gown. She was joined on the ramp by cinema’s favourite muse Monica Bellucci and the effortlessly chic Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, bringing a dose of Hollywood glamour to the Arabian night.

But the celebrations didn’t stop at the runway. Music icons Amr Diab, Jennifer Lopez and Celine Dion lent their voices to the celebration, marking the event as a melting pot of global artistry.

As the curtain fell on 1001 Seasons of Elie Saab, it wasn’t just a celebration of a legacy, it was a moment that bridged history, fashion, and innovation, setting the tone for the next 45 years.
