6 bakeries across Mumbai and Delhi that have a special strawberry menu

Get your dose of the seasonal fruit through your favourite desserts.

Harper's Bazaar India

It’s the season of red right now, and no, we don’t mean Christmas or Valentine’s Day—it’s that time of the year when fresh, ruby-red strawberries make their way into markets and onto the menu of restaurants—from being pureed into frothy milkshakes to being used as garnish atop cakes.

If, like us, you too can’t get enough of the fruit, we’ve rounded up some of the pastry shops and bakeries in Mumbai and Delhi that have an exclusive strawberry menu.

Le 15, one of Mumbai's most popular French bakeries, helmed by pastry chef Pooja Dhingra, comes out with a special strawberry edit every year. This year’s Everything Strawberry menu has three desserts on the menu—a strawberry cream cake, a mini version of the same cake, and a decadent strawberry tart. The strawberry cream cake has a feather-light genoise sponge layered with tart strawberry compote and chopped strawberries, and is garnished with even more fresh berries. The tart, on the other hand, has a rich pastry cream (if you’re ordering the version with eggs) or a custard cream filling topped with strawberries.
Tip: Place your order 24 hours prior to get your strawberry desserts on time.

Blanchette

The brainchild of chef Bianca Manik, Blanchette is an online bakery whose indulgent chocolate cakes and ice creams are a crowd favourite. For the winter menu, they have a light Madagascar vanilla and strawberry cheesecake with berry compote and strawberries. If you’re the sort of person who can have ice cream any time of the year, then their vegan strawberry and coconut ice cream that is made with coconut milk and has home-made strawberry jam and almond oat granola crumble swirled in, will be right up your alley.

Essange

Essange, a bakery that is known for its customised culinary creations and floral-inspired cakes, also has a seasonal strawberry menu. It features 10 different desserts—everything from simple cupcakes to elaborate layered cakes find their way on the extensive menu. If you’re a purist, then you’ll love the airy strawberry and cream cake, and if you can’t resist the combo of chocolate and berries, then the Belgian chocolate strawberry cake seems like the perfect option.

Delhi

Miam

Miam, the Delhi-based French patisserie known for its pastel-hued stunning pastries that make the most of seasonal produce, also has a strawberry menu. You’ll find a variety of desserts on the edit—if you’d like an assortment of desserts to try out, go for the Everything Strawberry box (eggless version available) that contains a fresh strawberry and dark chocolate tart, Victorian sponge with strawberries, strawberry choux bun, and a strawberries and cream dessert croissant. But if something more indulgent is on your mind, there are also cakes, entremets (a layered dessert with multiple components), tarts and cheesecakes for you to pick from.

Project Sweet Dish

Project Sweet Dish is an artisanal bakery based in Gurugram that delivers desserts, breads, and pastries across Delhi-NCR. Their strawberry menu has four desserts on the menu, with two being eggless. There’s a strawberry-pistachio-almond linzer tart, Project Sweet Dish’s rendition of a classic strawberry cream cake, a dark chocolate and strawberry entremet, and a pink-hued tropical strawberry-coconut-lemon number that is eggless to boot.

Monique Patisserie

Monique, the bakery whose mission is to bring a slice of Paris to Delhi, has three desserts on its online menu that shines a spotlight on strawberries. Le fraisier pistache marries strawberries with the nuttiness of pistachios to result in the classic French pastry. There’s a tart version of the combination too. If you’d like to stick to the strawberry and vanilla, then go for the la charlotte aux fraises, which is a traditional French dessert made of fluffy sponge and strawberries.
