The fantastic four are back. Nope, we’re not talking about Invisible Woman, Mister Fantastic, The Thing and Human Torch. You know exactly who we’re talking about (I mean, does anyone here not?). You can love it, you can hate it, but you certainly cannot ignore it! It’s double the dose of drama, gossip, and bickering between the besties on Netflix’s Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives Season 2 as Neelam Kothari, Seema Sajdeh, Bhavana Pandey and Maheep Kapoor return to the show. Entertaining us with slivers of their life, how fabulous they are, and what they’ve been up to since we last saw them, here’s what we learned in their second homecoming.
A group of two in a group of four
Put the girls together in a room or on a trip, and they get along like a house on fire. If you’ve seen the first season, you’d probably know that just like any other group, there exists a group within this one as well. Bhavana and Neelam are two peas in a pod while Seema and Maheep are joint at the hip. While things are kept cordial between the wives, one does sense a lot of unresolved conflict between Maheep and Bhavana on one hand, and Neelam and Seema on the other. Although there is a lot to navigate in keeping it cool and calm between them, we loved how each one of them puts their ego aside and clears misunderstandings maturely. You might wonder if they do actually bury the hatchet in the name of convenience, although Bhavana’s dance on Mein Tera Tota on their holiday sure looked like it did.
The menopause endorsement that never happened
Trying situations can sometimes bring the best out of people and their personalities. And the wives are no different. Maheep, considered the bully of the group, convinces everyone to be part of a menopause ad that was pitched to her. Who comes up with a name like Menocause warriors in the first place? And let’s not even get to the script—your lady garden, will not flower—cringe, soo much cringe.
In addition to not wanting to do something that isn’t happening to them, the other three don’t feel like being absolute sell-outs and want to cross the bridge when they get there. While there is a sense of denial amongst them that they are reaching that stage, it did feel nice to see them accept this change and welcome the process by visiting a gynecologist.
The men behind the fabulous wives
Here’s an honest confession—I watch the show because of Chunky Pandey (I’m just joking. Or am I?), Sanjay Kapoor (can’t take the Chembur out of him), and Samir Soni (from one introvert to another, I hear you). Just like last season, watching the three get screen time sure does bring a smile to our face. Chunky (let’s not call him Pandey) loves Bhavana as much as he did when he first met her and it was great to see them so young at heart towards the end of the series. Despite not being one to socialize, Soni knows how important it is to be there right by his wife’s side (kudos for winning our hearts on the brunch table) and being her biggest cheerleader. And then there’s Sanjay—once a hero, always a hero. His sweet gesture at a fancy hotel is #husbandgoals indeed.
Seema coming into her own
Inarguably one of the best parts of the show is Seema moving on in life and realizing her true potential. She is all set to begin a new chapter and that change begins at home when she replaces the name plate at her residence. This transformation does wonders for her as she beings to come into her own and starts to call the shots. Her collection of dark-themed apparel—Waysted (sounds like Seema at a party—Karan Johar’s words, not mine) is something that we can’t wait to see more of. Going by the designs, it does look like Seema is channelling what she wants to say through them, and we absolutely love that she has committed herself to her brand.
That said, Seema’s well-wishers will stop at nothing from setting her up and seeing her settle down. Seema’s meeting with Sima Taparia, from Mumbai, where she leaves her speechless by saying “I prefer women”, is sure to leave you in splits. Could Seema be dating one of the most popular rappers in the country all thanks to Karan Johar?

There ain’t no holiday like the wives holiday
After Doha in season 1, the girls have a jubilant time in Jawai, Rajasthan, this time around. The Sujan Jawai property plays host to the wives as they live it up in the lap of luxury amidst the wild. Watching the four get out of their comfort zone on yet another vacation was great—from a safari to remember, to an encounter with a leopard and snakes—the episode packed a punch. Add to this, we get a taste of another meeting with a fan who’s completely smitten by Neelam. This time it’s the owner, Jaisal Singh.
The Chunky-Bhavana marriage
The main event of this season—the couple’s second wedding. Bhavana wants to renew her vows with her husband Chunky, whom she is married to for the last 24 years. You’ll certainly give her top marks watching her soft landing to get the conversation going with her husband, family and friends. With Chunky, she casually shows him pictures of their wedding to set the mood. It’s no surprise to see the actor get on board because he’s game for everything fun and will do anything for his wife. The preparation goes on in full swing as ace designer Manish Malhotra, who styled her wedding outfit in 1998, makes her look her resplendent best in red on the big day. Watching them renew their new set of vows was really sweet and the pair sealing it with a kiss made it even better.
Ranveer Singh
Any Ranveer Singh appearance on a show, however small, deserves a special mention. It’s hard to describe the effect he has on the ladies in the final episode. We’ll just leave it to him to do the talking and make your jaw drop when you watch the second season.
