It’s battle royale as brothers will fight brothers, dragons will battle dragons in the second season of House of the Dragon that’s set to stream July 17 in India on JioCinema. The makers dropped a host of trailers to get us in the mood ahead of the much-awaited first episode. And it's safe to say that most of us fans look forward to the war, blood, fire, dragons, and of course, absolute mayhem. While the power-hungry Targaryens have their eyes fixed on the Iron Throne, it’s time for us to look at some of the most-awaited battles that will surely leave us at the edge of our seats in the upcoming season.
The stage is set for an epic showdown between nephew and uncle, as Prince Aemond and Daemon Targaryen prepare to face off. This is one battle that we simply can’t wait to watch. After all, it is a battle between the best in the land (and the air), both armed with formidable fighting skills and ferocious dragons. If you expect them to let their guard down, think again. As the Green trailer revealed a shot of Aemond saying, “My uncle is a challenge I welcome, if he dares face me.” While we can't wait to see the two battle against each other, the makers are expected to play it smart and give us the 'The Battle Above The Gods Eye', a duel that ultimately ended the Targaryen civil war at the end of season three or four. That said, we’re fully prepared for what happens between the two between now and then.
As mentioned earlier, brothers will fight brothers on the show and this one will take place between Arryk and Erryk Cargyll, twin knights of the Kingsguard, played by real-life twin brothers Luke and Elliot Tittensor respectively. When the heirs started fighting over the Iron Throne, the Kingsguard was split with some allying themselves with King Aegon II and the others with Queen Rhaenyra. The Cargyll brothers were no different with Arryk supporting Aegon while Erryk teamed up with Rhaenyra. Expect not just a great battle, but plenty of drama in this fight. Things are going to take a turn for the worse when Arryk is dispatched to infiltrate Rhaenyra’s camp by impersonating his brother. But he doesn’t get that far as he runs into his sibling. What follows is a brutal and emotional showdown that we can’t wait to watch.
Rhaenyra fans vs. Alicent fans
It’s not just the characters on the show that will be fighting each other but the viewers as well. While we certainly don’t expect the friends-turned-foes to pick up some arms and go head-to-head in a physical brawl (that responsibility falls to their armies and Dragonriders), fans of the show will bear the brunt of their unresolved conflict. The reason why the audience finds themselves having to choose sides is the brilliant writing that gives us plenty of reasons to sympathise with each camp. It’s all a matter of perspective, as either of the two sides could be the victim or the violator. Which side crossed the line, and whose actions were justified? There’s no right or wrong answer. There will be Greens and Blacks in every household, so expect nothing less than fireworks.
Streaming exclusively on JioCinema, House of the Dragon S2 will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, and Marathi, starting June 17th, with episodes dropping weekly every Monday.
