#PhotoOp: The most gramable cafes around the country
We’re living in a world driven by visuals, and these cafes are serving us looks.
Let’s admit it, going out today is no longer real unless your Instagram grid reflects it. Food is only eaten after we’ve taken a photo of it, and places are visited through our phones lenses. So, instead of denying it, or running away from it in the name of a digital detox, we decided to embrace it with this list of some of the most picturesque cafes across India that our social feeds are craving for. From monochromatic, minimal interiors, to splashes of bold and nature, here are six cafes worth planning your travels around.
Elgin Cafe, Amritsar
In the heart of Amritsar, Elgin Cafe is all things royal and elegant. The fluted walls and marble table tops take inspiration from the Maharajas who long ago inhabited the city, and the spread of golden accents across the floor juxtaposes perfectly with shades of royal green. And, as if it's an ode to the adaptability of the city, Elgin effortlessly goes from a quiet bistro in the day to a humming bar at night.
The 10 suites, Bhopal
The scent of freshly baked breads that tingle your taste buds the moment you set foot in The 10 Suites may be enough to lure you in, but its bricked walls, open bakery plan and abundance of green that makes you stay. This cafe, with its choice of community-seating and private cottage-like structures, provides a perfect setting for a golden-hour selfie or two while soaking up some mother nature time. With a rustic and warm charm, the 10 Suites has a ‘home away from home’ vibe, and the resident cats only add to that with their cameo appearances.
Coromandel Cafe, Puducherry
A cut above the many artistically-inspired cafes in Puducherry, the beauty of Coromandel Cafe lies in its attention to detail. Hand-painted murals adorn the walls, complimented perfectly with regal furniture and wooden accents, with a splash of rose gold and pale green accents that draw your eyes to the artwork. Coromandel Cafe is straight out of a Colonial evening, dramatic and lively in every way. This vintage-inspired cafe is perfect for a brunch, which can also be enjoyed in their open courtyard and verandah.
P.S. We also cannot recommend the food here enough.
Fika, Chennai
Named after the Swedish phrase “coffee time”, Fika is a coming together of many worlds, a riot of colours and lighting spread across a sizable 10,000 square foot. A multipurpose amphitheatre under the shade of badam trees lit up with orange and yellow lanterns, a set of private cabanas, a bakery meant to look like a doll house, and an impossible-to-take-your-eyes-off bright pink staircase that leads up to their community hall—this one is a quirky mix of themes that one would imagine don’t fit, yet come together seamlessly.
Timber Cafe, Imphal
Overlooking the city, Timber Cafe stands tall at the rooftop and offers both a chance to sit inside to enjoy the special woodwork and carefully curated lighting, or take advantage of their outdoor space complete with glistening marble tables and a beautiful swing, all while bands sing in the background. We highly recommend you try the local fanfare while here.
