Celebrating automotive excellence at the Oberoi Concours d’Elegance

Commemorating the 90th anniversary of Oberoi Hotels and Resorts, the famed Concours d’Elegance took place at the stunning Oberoi Udaivilas in Udaipur, India, offering a grand celebration of classic automobiles and timeless elegance. Set against the backdrop of Lake Pichola and the resort’s iconic domed architecture, the event honoured the exceptional engineering and craftsmanship of some of the most unique and sought-after automobiles in the world.
The event featured classes representing different eras and categories of automotive design, allowing guests to appreciate the evolution of these magnificent machines. From “Motoring for the Masses—India” to “Post-War Sports Cars,” and “Defining Legends of the Modern Age,” each class had a unique story to tell about automotive heritage.
Over the course of its illustrious history, Oberoi Hotels & Resorts has hosted famous classic and vintage vehicle rallies across its award-winning facilities, all while remaining consistent in its dedication to promoting and conserving Indian heritage. With a focus on preserving automotive heritage, the Concours showcased the finest vintage cars and motorcycles from India and around the world. From regal vehicles owned by Indian royalty to meticulously preserved classics from private collectors, the event celebrated the beauty and craftsmanship of these iconic automobiles.
A distinguished panel of judges, including industry experts and world champions, evaluated the entries across various categories. Led by Ms Sandra Button, Chairperson of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the judges ensured that only the most exceptional vehicles received recognition.
The Pranlal Bhogilal Collection’s 1937 Mercedes Benz 540K Cabriolet B was awarded the P.R.S. Oberoi Spirit of Excellence Trophy. In the motorbike category, Mr Madan Mohan won Best of Show for his 1925 New Hudson 499 CC TT, while Mr Nishant Doosa won Best of Show in the automobile category for his 1939 Lagonda V12 Drophead Coupe.
In addition to the stunning cars on display, the Concours unveiled an exclusive poster by renowned automobile artist Tim Layzell, adding to the event’s allure. Cars from royal garages and the Oberoi family collection added a historical touch, paying tribute to India’s rich automotive history
The Oberoi Group’s Executive Chairman, Mr Arjun Oberoi, expressed his joy at organising and supporting the celebration of design, ingenuity, and artistry that has shaped a century of the most remarkable cars ever made. He stressed the importance of The Oberoi Concours d’Elegance in bringing India’s automotive prowess and legacy to the international arena.
Collaborations with luxury brands like BMW, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, IWC, Piaget, and Stefano Ricci enhanced the event’s luxury experience. The presence of the iconic BMW 328, flown in from Germany, captured the attention of enthusiasts and added to the diverse collection of vehicles. Moreover, tying up with BMW and Moët Hennessy India underscored a commitment to celebrating craftsmanship and heritage preservation in the automotive industry.
