Treasury of Trousseau 2024—from fashion showcases to masterclasses
A spotlight on trends from Indian couturiers this festive season.
With the festive season on the horizon, it's an exciting time to explore the latest in fashion. DLF Emporio's Treasury of Trousseau 2024 brought us the dos and don’ts of “What’s Trending?” a discussion by stylist extraordinaire Rhea Kapoor and journalist Supriya Dravid. Their discussion was followed by a showcase by Bvlgari and stunning displays from renowned Indian designers, such as Falguni Shane Peacock, Amit Aggarwal, Ridhi Mehra, Surekha Jain, Shivan and Narresh, Arjan Dugal and Rimzim Dadu. We did some trendspotting at the couture displays to bring you an exclusive list of how to prepare your wardrobe this festive season.
Relaxed Glamour
“Effortlessly chic” fashion choices are very in this season. As the celebrations unfold, keeping yourself comfortable above anything else is essential. Rhea Kapoor emphasises the relaxed silhouette and suggests avoiding getting your stilettos stuck in your floor-length ensembles. Falguni Shane Peacock's showcase, Rang Mahal, showcased a line of velvet suits with sparkling work, a testament to the easy chic aesthetic.
Neutral Hues
As the leaves change colour and fall approaches, neutrals are in. From a simple suit to a heavy Anamika Khanna lehenga, pastels and whites have moved beyond sartorial choices for weddings and seeped into our festive wardrobes. Paired with statement jewellery, these styling choices can help you have an easy-breezy time in this season of celebrations whilst being chic. Check out Surekha Jain’s showcase for some inspiration:
Blooming festivities
Spotted on the runway: models adorned in lilies and red roses at the Falguni Shane Peacock showcase. For centuries, Indian women have gracefully woven fresh flowers in their hair. The fragrance and aesthetics go hand in hand, giving your outfit a certain je ne sais quoi.
Canvas to couture
Rhea Kapoor emphasises incorporating our art and culture into our weaves—idolising well-renowned artist Jayasri Burman, who commissioned an Abu Jani Sandeep Kholsa lehenga that made waves this wedding season. Couture designs featuring intricate work from Falguni Shane Peacock’s Rang Mahal showcase where art met the runway. With exclusive pieces from Masha Art, Treasury of Trosseau’s art partner, adding sparkle to the venue, the intersection of art and fashion was a showcase in itself.
Festive stacks of mixed metals
While traditionally, gold has always been the go-to, a blend of gold, silver, and even rose gold in one look is making waves this season, adding depth and versatility to festive outfits. Rhea Kapoor vouches for the trend as seen in her style, often mixing metals and taking a more boho-chic approach with her jewellery. With plenty of jewellery options, Indian women are naturally inclined to experiment—stacking bangles, necklaces, and rings. Layer up and mix up, and let your jewellery be a canvas because there's no style better than authenticity after all.
Tarun Tahiliani, Abu Jani Sandeep Kholsa, Anamika Khanna, and Sabyasachi are the designers to watch out for this season, says Rhea Kapoor.
As the festive season begins, it's safe to say being on trend goes hand in hand with being yourself. Beauty is no longer pain, and its marked shift to ease and personal style is notable. From relaxed fits and mixed metals to art-inspired ensembles and floral accents, there’s a celebration of individuality in every look. It's about creating your own story, one that celebrates heritage while embracing the new.
