Everything you need to know about Gucci's newest boutique in Mumbai
Situated in the Jio World Plaza, the store is a testament to the opulence of the brand.
This November, iconic Italian fashion label Gucci brought its signature opulence to Mumbai. The brand expanded its presence in India with the opening of a new luxurious boutique at the Jio World Plaza in Bandra Kurla Complex. The opening marks a new chapter in the brand’s legacy of sophistication. It resonates with Gucci’s core identity. Spread over 5,800 square feet, the store is a testament to contemporary allure, showcasing a wide range of pieces for both men and women, including ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, jewellery, and accessories as well as Gucci’s décor items.
Demonstrating the unmistakable charm and allure of the Gucci brand, the label has redefined the retail experience by crafting exceptional interiors that go beyond traditional shopping. Just like every other Gucci store that is a masterpiece of design, the new boutique in Mumbai too embodies the brand’s ethos. Guests are warmly welcomed by a restored façade, all in marble. It is distinguished by a multi-hued geometrical motif whose veining elegantly frames the fashion house’s logo.
Inside the store, the marble flooring echoes the façade with its discreet palette and geometric shapes. It is inspired by the designs found across historic buildings. Decorative motifs, which reference details from the label’s collections, adorn the hand-painted wood flooring. The walls, on the other hand, are embellished with soft rich fabrics in lighter tones that harmoniously compliment the ivory boiserie—a delicate backdrop for the items on display. The store’s environment has a polished and subtle charm that is accentuated by clean lines and a muted colour palette.
With an aim to make guests feel at home, the store is horsebit framed with built-in displays that will remind you of walk-in closets. The newly designed racks, inspired by classic brass designs, gracefully accommodate diverse product categories. Velvet armchairs and sofas are combined with vintage rugs to create intimate corners. The aesthetic dialogue between elements drawn from different places and eras speaks to the label’s core narrative, resulting in a space that is sophisticated and surprising at the same time.
As a part of Gucci’s commitment to implement and enhance eco-friendly initiatives and energy-efficient technologies in its stores worldwide, the new boutique is designed using LEED guidelines and principles, proving that luxury can coexist harmoniously with the planet. Established in Florence, Tuscany in 1921 by Guccio Gucci, the House began as a humble leather goods workshop. It evolved from equestrian inspirations in the 1950s to global recognition for luxury and craftsmanship. Today, standing as an emblem of Italian fashion, Gucci is one of the world’s leading luxury brands, blending heritage with innovation, pushing boundaries and captivating a diverse global audience even after being in the business for over a century.
