The best OTT shows to watch in April 2023

April has brought a host of terrific titles and engaging narratives that will keep you entertained and hooked on to your screens throughout the month and long after that. Be it Indian Matchmaking's third season drop or a period drama titled Jubilee, or Priyanka Chopra Jonas packing a punch in Citadel; it’s entertainment at its very best. 

Here's a list of the shows you must catch this month. 

Beef

This dark comedy series sees Ali Wong and Steven Yeun play strangers crossing paths during a road rage incident. Spanning 10 episodes, the series, which starts with the dangerous event, eventually involves their family members, business partners, and an increasing number of innocent bystanders. Their showdown escalates to a chase through suburban streets and turns into a feud that lasts for months.

Transatlantic


Based on Julie Orringer's novel, The Flight Portfolio, the series recounts the factual events of the Emergency Rescue Committee during World War II. The story follows the courageous American journalist, Varian Fry, who travelled to Nazi Germany to save numerous writers and artists. In the early 1940s, a dedicated group of expats and local activists set up a system to help Jewish refugees escape Nazi aggression. Emergency Rescue Committee members Mary Jayne Gold (Gillian Jacobs), Varian Fry (Cory Michael Smith), and Albert Hirschman (Lucas Englander) are just a handful of real-life figures chronicled in Julie Orringer’s book.

Jubilee

Set in 1947, in Bombay, the upcoming web series, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, will bring to the forefront a fictional tale of the film industry. It features Aditi Rao Hydari, Aparshakti Khurana, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Ram Kapoor, Sidhant Gupta, and Wamiqa Gabbi, among others in pivotal roles.

‘Tooth Pari: When Love Bites’


A vampire falls in love with a human dentist. Yes, you read that right. That is the plot of this new Hindi web series. The show promises to be a fascinating watch as Rumi, a rebellious vampire, with a broken tooth (or should we say fang?) falls head over heels in love with a shy dentist named Roy in Kolkata. While both seem attracted to each other, we can’t wait to see if human and mystical forces keep them apart.

Indian Matchmaking

The country’s favourite matchmaker Sima Taparia (from Mumbai), is back to play cupid. She will 'counsel' and assist prospective grooms and brides in their quest to find true love and their happily ever after. Rest assured, she’ll pull out all the stops to ensure the stars are aligned. Love the show or hate it, but you won’t be able to ignore the conversations on the show.

Citadel

The much-awaited American sci-fi thriller web series will finally be on our screens this month. The series, starring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden of Game Of Thrones fame in the lead, has some power-packed action sequences we are looking forward to. The plot revolves around a global spy agency that erases its agents' memory before shutting down. With a crime syndicate gaining momentum, Citadel agents will have recover their lost memories and fight back.
