The Bae is here to stay and slay this September with Ananya Panday all set to make her web series debut in Amazon Prime’s upcoming offering Call Me Bae. Chronicling Bella ‘Bae’ Chowdhary’s journey of going from heiress to hustler, the eight-part series offers a heart-warming and light-hearted story as Bae faces challenges in her attempt to find a way to live life on her own terms. Set to stream on September 6, the series also features the likes of Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, Vihaan Samat, Muskkaan Jaferi, Niharika Lyra Dutt, Lisa Mishra, and Mini Mathur playing pivotal characters.

The trailer, which dropped a few days ago, offers viewers a glimpse into the glamourous life of Bae who was born with a golden spoon and lives her live queen size in New Delhi. Her classy and sophisticated life takes a turn for the worst when she ends up getting disowned by her family, and the scene shifts to the bustling streets of Mumbai, where she must now fend for herself. From commuting in luxurious cards, Bae struggles to adapt to her new reality as she navigates public transport amidst the  bustle of Mumbai as a journalist. In the process, we see her form unexpected friendships, alliances and goes through the many challenges thrown at her, seizing the day with her unique blend of wit and humour. It’s an inspiring transformation that we can’t wait to watch.

“From the get go, I knew Call Me Bae was a project I wanted to be a part of. Even without having heard the script I knew this was going to be something special,” shared Panday. “As an actor, it is always exciting and rewarding to play a multi-layered character like Bae. There’s more to Bae than what meets the eye and that is what makes her journey from heiress to hustler, compelling and intriguing. Despite the challenges she faces, she remains true to herself, retaining her innocence and zest for life. This authenticity is what drew me to the role. This is my first long format original series and I couldn’t have asked for a better director than Collin or a more supportive cast.”
