Everything you need to know about 'Squid Game Season 2'
It’s time to play the game, one more time, this December 26.
The best games in life are rarely played just once. Three years after his win in Squid Game, Player 456 is back, this time on a mission in Squid Game Season 2. With the teaser unveiled for the first time at Lucca Comics & Games—Europe’s largest comic con—fans are on the edge of their seats, eager to see what happens when Seong Gi-hun is pulled back into the game as the Front Man comes knocking at his door. After all, you can take the player out of the game, but you can’t take the game out of the player.
Here's what we know so far about the upcoming season.
What’s the new season going to be all about?
Having lost a lot of things—and people—in the first season, Gi-hun is on a crucial mission to reveal the realities of the mysterious survival game. The survivor is now the avenger as he comes up with a plan to uncover the masterminds behind this gruesome and twisted game and avenge everything that took place. This is why he—for the second time—takes part in the life-or-death competition with new participants who are gathered to win the prize of 456 billion won.
Carrying the burden of the past, Gi-hun does his best to warn those around him for he is the only one to have been there and done that, and above all knows that no one else survives. Despite knowing all the tricks needed to win, his pleas fall on deaf ears, which forces the players to suspect his true motives.
Directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the series will also see Lee Byung-hun and Wi Ha-joon reprise their roles from the previous season. Byung-hun is back as the mysterious Front Man, whose true motivations remain hidden in secrecy, while Ha-joon’s Hwang Jun-ho is back as the detective who is on a mission of his own. Joining the cast are a new set of faces, including Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an.
As anticipation for Season 2 grows, fans are already looking forward to Squid Game’s final chapter, with Season 3 set to conclude the series in 2025.
