A guilty pleasure, a style enthusiast’s dream come true, and the life people would want if they moved to the fashion capital of the world. These are a few ways to describe what viewers would expect from Netflix’s popular Emily in Paris series. Breaking records with season 1 and season 2 and winning attaining titles like the Costume Designers Guild Awards, Primetime Emmy Awards, and Golden Globes, there’s no doubt this series has already become one of our favourites.

And now, with season 3 launching today, we had no choice but to binge-watch the first two episodes. Here, Bazaar Arabia‘s Anahita Ghai shares her honest review and thoughts on Emily in Paris, season 3—warning, spoiler alert.

Emily in Paris Season 3 Review

Confused? Cut Your Hair.

The start of season 3 begins with Emily, played by Lily Collins, taking scissors and cutting her hair into bangs. Something we have seen before? Yes, a popular Tik Tok trend during the pandemic. Nonetheless, she looks chic.

There’s A Shift In Focus From Emily’s Love Life To Her Work

While we all love a good love triangle story now and then, the first episodes showcase Emily’s employment status as she struggles to decide whether to work with Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) or Madeline, her current boss.

And being the over-enthusiastic person that she is, Emily chooses to juggle both till she makes up her mind. Practical in the real world? Not at all. The first thought that came to mind is this is quite illogical as it’s not allowed and practically impossible to handle two similar day jobs and do it well. What ended up happening? Sylvie was furious when she found out and decided to fire her.

The Fashion We All Wanted To See

Finally, I can say that the fashion enthusiast inside me is satisfied. The new release is already giving us major style inspiration, especially the clip of Sylvie in a black couture gown at Pierre Cadault’s prestigious event. Here are two of my personal favourites (more to come):

Alfie vs Gabriel

After season 2 closes with Emily having personal relations with neighbour and friend Gabriel while still being in a relationship with British banker Alfie, many were unsure if the two would still be together in the Emily in Paris season 3. However, rest assured they are. But not for long.

The episodes showcase most of Emily’s employment status and how that overshadows her priorities with Alife, leading to him ending things and returning to London. But later, we discover that the British beau has moved to Paris to work with Antoine as their CFO. So while Emily is confused as ever with her career and love life, time will tell who she picks (I am team Alfie).

Mindy Still Plays The Best Friend Role

For all those Ashley Park fans, remain calm; Mindy still plays an active role in the series as a talented singer and Emily’s best friend and roommate.

Would I recommend Emily in Paris season 3?

So far, I have to say I am enjoying the twist in the plot and the endless drama. While it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, I recommend giving it a try. Maybe my opinion will change after finishing the season.

Stay tuned for more information.
