Guess who realised that the hint for catching the perfect summer glow was hanging in the sky all along? The TikTok beauty trend—sunset blush—is taking over the internet as beauty gurus and enthusiasts find more creative ways to bring the dreamy hues of the setting sun right to your cheeks. However, getting that perfect sunset blush look isn’t as simple as using any orange blush. It’s about finding the right shades and balancing colours and textures to create a perfectly natural and healthy flush that’s sure to make a statement. Alissa Holmes, a content creator and make-up enthusiast, put this trend on the radar of many beauty enthusiasts.

To recreate this trend, one can have fun with two contrasting blush shades: a warm orange tone miming the same fiery shades a setting sun takes on and a fabulous pink to represent the afterglow. This can be buffed off with a touch of a shiny highlighter for looks that bring together the warm and cool shades of a beautiful sunset sky. But, don't let the word 'sunset' fool you; this trend isn't limited to summer evenings. The magic of a sunset look is that it can easily transition from day to night and look like you've got just a little bit of a fresher, day glow in a more nighttime-ready way.

Ahead we’re going to guide you through the process to achieve the perfect sunset blush trend—choosing the right products, mastering blending techniques, and everything else you need to know to nail TikTok's hottest blush trend.

Step 1: Start by preparing your base

Start by cleansing and moisturising your face to ensure a smooth application. Then, apply your foundation and concealer as usual, creating an even canvas, and set your base with a light dusting of translucent setting powder to keep your make-up in place.

Step 2: Apply the orange blush

Next, take a warm-toned orange blush and pick up some product with your blush brush, tapping off any excess to avoid over-application. Smile to find the apples of your cheeks and start applying the orange blush there, blending it upwards towards your temples in a sweeping motion to mimic the natural warmth of a sunset. Then, gradually build up the colour to achieve your desired intensity.

Step 3: Add the pink blush

Pick up some of your pink blush, tap off the excess, and apply it just above the orange blush, focusing on the higher points of your cheeks. Blend the pink into the orange to create a gradient that resembles the sunset glow. Layer the blush as needed to ensure a perfect blend between the two shades.

Step 4: Highlight your cheekbones

Then, apply a shiny highlighter to the highest point of your cheekbones, right above where you applied the pink blush. Blend the highlighter gently to avoid harsh lines and then add a subtle glow that compliments the sunset blush.

For a more natural flush, try using a lighter hand with both blush shades and make sure it blends thoroughly. For a bolder, more dramatic look, apply the blush shades more intensely and consider adding a bit more highlighter for that extra glow.
