The Spring 2023 hair trends you're about to see everywhere

Hair trends aren't moving as quickly these days as makeup and nail trends. There's no "glazed doughnut" equivalent for hair unless you count the viral TikToks showing off the latest Dyson tools. And since we all have different hair textures and cuts—not every new hairstyle is so easily adopted by us all. But the spring 2023 runways in New York, London, Milan, and Paris did in fact show five distinct hair trends that anyone can wear. There's the resurgence of early 2000s looks we're calling Y2K, as well as a new take on bedhead, cool ways to tie your hair up, and the end of the middle part chokehold. Ahead, the trends you're about to see everywhere this spring.

Wet Look 

Wet hair is simply everywhere right now. Here, Bella Hadid wearing the trend at Victoria Beckham's show.

Wet hair can look beachy or punky depending on the styling. 

Side Part

You might look at this picture and think, "more wet hair?" Yes! But it's also parted way off to the side and hanging in the face, which was another major trend on the spring 2023 runways.

Short hair can get in on this trend too, as seen at Gauri & Nainika.

Y2K 

If this hairstyle just gave you a shudder-inducing flashback, it might be time for eye cream. At Givenchy, the only hairstyle appropriate for the y2k-inspired show was this distinct half-up style, which we last wore 20 years ago. 

Paris Hilton, queen of all things 2000s, closed the show at Versace with her hair parted—guess how!—off to the side.

All Tied Up 

Don't just toss your hair into a basic ponytail or bun this spring. There are so many cooler ways to tie things up. At Dior, models walked wearing perfectly imperfect low pigtails. We love how the elastics are hidden with hair. 

The braids and makeup at Etro took on an abstract quality, which in turn was just so fun.

At Chanel, some models walked with their hair pulled into low ponytails affixed with crystal-branded barrettes. Consider it the new claw clip.

Bedhead

It was refreshing to see hair that looked far from perfect and polished on dozens of runways this season. That's to say bedhead is back. If your hair is a little flat, a little fuzzy, a little rumpled—it's totally okay. Don't fight it. Here, the look at Fendi. 

Peek-a-boo braids added dimension to the rumpled hair at Blumarine.

At Sportmax, waves were neither beachy nor glam, but rather the kind of waves that look like they had been styled three days prior and slept on. Relatable.
